Waste Management Case Studies

Waste Water Treatment

Waste water treatment plants rely on massive amounts of polymer to solidify human waste before transporting and treating it. The polymer is pumped through a large network of pipes throughout the facility, with leaks and spills common place at hook up points.   Cleaning the spill with clay absorbents could take over an hour, and still leave a slick and heavy residue behind. Workers then have to use water and a commercial cleaning product on the residue, creating a slippery nightmare.

SpillFix was recently demonstrated at a county waste water treatment plant in Ohio. It was used  to clean up the polymer in 60% less time than the water method, leaving no residue and creating a clean, safe, non slippery surface.

The plant’s head of maintenance remarked, “I’ve been here 25 years and we’ve never had anything that can clean up polymer. This is a whole new avenue for us.”

Shipping facilities rely on thousands of roller racks to transport packages down the line and onto trucks. Those rollers require oil and grease to run smoothly, but in turn, make workers’ hands incredibly dirty. During a SpillFix demonstration at a facility, the maintenance administrator decided to try something new at each  hand washing station – she added a five gallon bucket of SpillFix. Rather than first attempting to wash off the sticky residue with water, workers could rub SpillFix all over their hands and arms, removing 90% of the muck without a drop of water. The rest would rinse off easily without harsh chemicals.

Happy with the results, the administrator is also using SpillFix in the repackaging area of the facility where paint, ink and all kinds of messy liquids leak from boxes and containers being shipped. Since SpillFix can be reused over and over, the repackaging area has two bins – one for new SpillFix and one for the used, a big cost saving feature recognized by the facility maintenance administrator.

Masonic Homes – Retirement Home

Unlike clay absorbents, SpillFix is safe to use in healthcare facilities. The administrator of a nursing home community saw how SpillFix could have applications in every part of her operation – from food service, to administering to the sick, to trucks coming in and out, to maintenance, and to landscaping.

“It’s the one product that can do all of this,” says the facility administrator. “Because SpillFix is 100% natural with no carcinogens, SpillFix is the one effective product that can be used safely throughout hospitals, nursing and retirement homes, as well as hospices.”

SpillFix also came in handy in the facility parking lot when a boulder cracked a delivery truck’s radiator. Prior to SpillFix, the administrator said they would have used a significant quantity of socks to absorb the huge spill – a long, messy, inefficient process.  Instead,  SpillFix completely absorbed the puddle in less than 15 minutes.
